We're so excited that you’re joining us at WHACK Spring '17! This weekend, we hope to provide a venue for students to learn more about women in the tech industry and to work on awesome projects that promote or support women. We hope you have a phenomenal time!
We'd love to see your photos and posts from this weekend (our hashtag is #wellesleyhacks):
What should I bring?
Here are some things you should bring:
- Valid photo ID
- Laptop and a charger for hacking
- Sleeping bag & toiletries
- Water bottle
What is the theme?
Our Spring '17 theme is Hacking the Glass Ceiling—it's been carefully crafted to support women in tech and beginners. The theme is intentionally open-ended, and we encourage students to work on projects that support/advance women. However, you aren't required to submit projects following this theme!
Using Slack 💬
Project Ideas 💡
Once you’ve joined our Slack team, join the #project_ideas channel. This is the perfect place to toss out your hack ideas and find people who are interested in joining your team!
Requesting Help 🙋
Use the #mentors channel to get help from mentors! When requesting help, describe what you need help with and include your table number. Mentors will be looking at this feed and if there is a question they can answer, they will mark it with the hand-raised emoji. If you're stuck on something for more than 10 minutes, don't be afraid to ask a mentor for help!
These hardware items will be available for you to tinker with all weekend! To check something out, just come on our to our hardware table!

Submitting Your Hack 📮
Follow these steps:
1. Have all your team members create individual Devpost accounts.
2. Submit your project through the WHACK Devpost (making sure to add everyone on your team to your project).
3. Choose your prize categories. If your team consists of all first-time hackers and you would like to compete in the rookie category, please email email@example.com. By competing in the rookie category, you will not be eligible for the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prizes.
All submissions are due on Sunday, February 12 at 11:30am.
After you finish working on your project on Sunday morning, you will have 30 minutes to prepare a short 3-minute presentation. We will enjoy lunch and presentations at the same time. During presentations, every team will have the chance to share what they have been working on. After all of the teams have presented, the judges will convene to decide on winners.
